The Mary King and Beatrice Henry Memorial Scholarships and Janet W. Bratten Scholarship were established to provide opportunities for deserving young ladies to pursue their goals for a higher education. Scholarship funds are awarded to successful candidates who exemplify Scholarship, Leadership, and Community Service.
SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION
Eligibility Requirements for the Janet W. Bratten Memorial Scholarship
• A male or female student enrolled at Delaware State University or Wilmington University
• Must be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States
• Must have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.75 or higher
Eligibility Requirements for the Mary King Memorial Scholarship
• A female student enrolled at Delaware State University or Wilmington University
• Must be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States
• Must have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.75 or higher
Eligibility Requirements for the Beatrice Henry Memorial Scholarship
• A female student graduating from a Kent County public high school
• Must be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States
• Must have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.75 or higher
Requirements for all Scholarships
• Recipients must be present to accept their Scholarship
• Recipients must be willing to follow-up at next year's Scholarship event
Method of Issuance
• Scholarship awards ($500+) will be deposited directly into the recipient’s college account in the fall in one payment.
• Awards are issued annually.
Application Instructions
Complete the attached below application in its entirety as legibly as possible. If any question does not apply to you, answer the question as N/A for non-applicable. Make sure that all information is current and up to date. Be sure to include the following:
1. A Letter of Introduction, expressing your eligibility and your need for the scholarship
2. A brief autobiography-- must include information relating to future goals, community service involvement, academic achievement, and memberships in other organizations and/or clubs.
3. Two letters of recommendation from any of the following persons:
• Principal, Guidance Counselor, Teacher, Professor or Advisor
• Pastor or Minister
• Any persons other than family members (supervisor, friend, etc.).
4. An official transcript from high school or college/university.
